What is the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation?

The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers financial assistance to patients in the State of Florida who are currently undergoing, or who have recently completed, cancer treatment.

What type of assistance does the Foundation offer?

The FCS Foundation strives to relieve qualified patients of financial stress so they can focus on what really matters, fighting cancer. The Foundation provides non-medical financial help with day-to-day living expenses:

How do I apply for assistance?

The types of bills that can be paid include:

    • Rent, lot rent or mortgage payments
    • Homeowners insurance
    • Utilities – electricity and water and sewer
    • One phone bill – either landline or cell, covered up to $50 per month
    • Car payments or car insurance for one car

* The Foundation does not pay patient medical bills, co-payments, or credit card bills of any kind, and does not provide direct patient cash grants.

What are the eligibility requirements to apply for assistance?

To be eligible, patients must:
  • Be a current Florida resident over 18 years old
  • Be actively undergoing cancer treatment in Florida or within 90 days of your final treatment date. Eligible treatment is chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, and hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation.
  • Have an annual household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines – see table below. (Will be required to provide bank statements and proof of income for all members of household over 18 years old)
  • Have less than $5,000 in total household liquid assets (checking, savings, CD, stocks etc.)
  • Complete an online application for assistance and submit all required support documentation

How much assistance is provided through the FCS Foundation?

The maximum amount of grant per applicant is $2,000 per calendar year while actively receiving cancer treatment or within 90 days of final treatment.

How do I apply for assistance?

All applications must be completed online.

How much assistance is provided through the FCS Foundation? If I exhaust my funds can I reapply?

The maximum amount of grant per applicant is $2,000 per calendar year for non-medical living expenses incurred while actively receiving cancer treatment or within 90 days of final treatment. If you are still actively undergoing or within 90 days of final treatment, you may reapply at the beginning of the calendar year. Please check out our website’s Resources page for other types of assistance.

How do I access my application?

If you forgot your password, you could retrieve your password and have a reset sent to your email.

How do I upload documents to my application?

Please upload any requested documentation to your application’s profile. A placeholder will be opened for each type of documentation you need to submit, click on the browse and upload a pdf or word doc, pdf or screen shot from your device or computer to your application. You may also fax the documents to our office at 813-623-4703, or email them to us at foundation@flcancer.com.

How long do I have to complete my application?

You may apply anytime. Please note that if there is no activity in your profile for 45 days, your application will be closed. You may call us to reopen a closed application as appropriate. If you have any questions please call our office at 941-677-7183 or email us at foundation@flcancer.com.

How will I know the status of my application?

Log into your application and look for status levels of new, incomplete, accepted, paid or complete.

How will I know if payments are made for my bills?

Log into your application and look under the payment section to see when payments were made for each of your bills.

How do I check the balance remaining on my grant?

Log into your application and look for grant award of $2,000 minus amount of payments made with balance remaining. You should see something like this $2,000 – $774.11 = $1,225.89
